David Your Questions About Sport Fishing Boats

David asks…

Camp sites that offers fishing, hiking and water sport rentals in socal?

We are looking for a camp site that is close to the Santa Clarita and San Bernardino area that offers fishing, hiking and boat and jet ski rentals. We are looking for a good shade in our camp site as well. Does anyone have any recommendations? We have been to Lake Piru and it was okay, we are looking to camp somewhere else.

Daniel A Your Questions About Sport Fishing Boats

Daniel Ambrose answers:

Lake Silverwood, Big Bear lake, Castaic lake, fit the bill but getting reservations at any of the campsites on the weekends will be tough. Most are booked solid through summer 6 months ago.

Ken Your Questions About Sport Fishing Boats

Ken asks…

Do you catch yellowtail on the full day boat(liberty)at longbeach sport fishing?

we are planing to go there in the summer to catch yellowatail, but do they?we don’t want to waste money.

Daniel A Your Questions About Sport Fishing Boats

Daniel Ambrose answers:

The Liberty is scheduled for full-day Catalina fishing departing at 6AM. In the summer, Catalina can be great for yellowtail, but if it’s a cooler water year, it can be nothing but bass and barracuda, or nothing but mackerel and sculpin. On top of that, conditions change quickly — the fishing can be great one day, but two days later, it can be dead. My suggestion is to watch the counts online at http://www.sportfishingreport.com/ to see if the fish you want are biting. (They have links to all the landings.)

If you’re set on yellowtail, you might be better off on one of the overnight trips. At Long Beach, the Eldorado does these trips, but all the landings from Redondo south to San Diego run these trips. The extra 6 hours or so of travel time lets the boat get to the backside of Catalina, or San Clemente island, or for the San Diego boats, lets them run into Mexican waters. A 6AM departure really only lets the boat fish the front side of the island, and you don’t get a crack at the early bite. (it’s about a 3-hour trip across the channel.)

One thing to remember, though, is yellowtail can be hard to catch — they’re often called “talent” fish. If you don’t know what you’re doing, you might come home with a dry sack, while the guy next to you catches a bunch. I’ve been on trips with 100 yellows on the boat for 30 people, and there were people who didn’t manage a single fish, and others who put close to their 10 fish limit on board.

John Your Questions About Sport Fishing Boats

John asks…

Does anyone know what kind of wood floors they have on the outside of big fishing boats?

I want to do my house in that kind of flooring.

Heres a picture of it. Go to this website and go to picture number 5.

http://www.oceanyachtsinc.com/Fleet/Super_Sport/58_Super_Sport/index.html#

Daniel A Your Questions About Sport Fishing Boats

Daniel Ambrose answers:

Teak wood. But that’s overkill for your house unless your building an outside deck. You can buy flooring that looks just like it, and much cheaper for the inside of your home.

Linda Your Questions About Sport Fishing Game

Linda asks…

do i need a fishing license if im 15?

the california law says this…

Q: Who needs a sport fishing license?
A: Any person who is 16 years of age or older must possess a sport fishing license when taking any fish, shell fish, reptile, or amphibian in California (Fish and Game Code Section 7145). Fish and Game Code Section 86 defines take as: hunt, pursue, catch, capture, or kill, or attempt to hunt, pursue, catch, capture or kill.

Daniel A Your Questions About Sport Fishing Game

Daniel Ambrose answers:

HAHAHAHA

Chris is right; the penalty for being unable to interpret Ca Regs is purchasing a license. You have to buy all of the stamps too.

Chris Your Questions About Sport Fishing Game

Chris asks…

Best Fishing Reel, Penn, Shimano, Daiwa or ?

This question is probably more of a poll on your opinion.
I am based in the Pacific Islands and we can get some sinister fish hook ups.
I use Shimano equipment for Landbased Game Fishing and Penn for My Offshore Sport Fishing.

Some people say just pick one or the other!

I’m quite fond of the Penn HT100 Drag System. I think it is vastly superior in stopping power and life to the Shimano.

What are your findings?

Daniel A Your Questions About Sport Fishing Game

Daniel Ambrose answers:

From your description of where you are fishing the is nothing that can beat a Penn reel. If I was going to be fishing in an out of the way place the two reels I would want is a Jigmaster 500, and 113H 4/0. They are simple, easy to fix in the field, and parts for these reels if needed can be found almost anywhere. These two reels were the most in demand from foreign tourist that I came into contact with when I was in the retail tackle business.

I agree with your feelings about the HT 100 Drag System. They last and don’t fade under pressure and heat.

John Your Questions About Sport Fishing Boats

John asks…

Does anyone have a copy of the RC Cola Sports Fishing commercial?

I forget when it aired, but it featured two sports fishing boats (Coke vs. Pepsi) duking it out in a deep sea fishing tournament. The only thing is they’re catching people. It was pre-CG and they went all out with the live stunts. Anyways, I can never find a copy to explain what I’m talking about when describing it.

Try contacting RC Cola directly, maybe they can help:

Charles Your Questions About Sport Fishing Boats

Charles asks…

I am 16 years old. Would I be able to go sport fishing alone, but with parental consent?

Hello guys! I am currently 16 years old and I LOVE sport fishing. I live in Southern California and I used to go sport fishing a lot with my dad. The sad part is that my dad is far too busy now to take me sport fishing, so I currently can’t find an adult who would be willing to take me fishing. I used to go to Long Beach Sport Fishing at Berth 55 and New Port Landing Sport Fishing. My mom says that she will take me to the docks, but not actually go on the boats to fish a whole day with me. She of course gives consent to me fishing on the boat alone with other anglers. (When I say alone, I don’t mean literally alone, but alone as in without anyone I personally know) I know all of the trades of fishing from my dad so I obviously won’t be messing around.

My questions are: Will the guys at the sport fishing place allow me to go fishing without an adult guardian, but with parental consent? Will my two friends who are also 16 be able to come with me?

Daniel A Your Questions About Sport Fishing Boats

Daniel Ambrose answers:

Many years ago, I would go out on sportboats with my younger brother, but no parents or adults, starting when I was 13 or so. (Both my parents were prone to seasickness.) For the most part it was half- and three-quarter-day boats (from Redondo to Malibu), and nobody ever gave us a hassle, even when we biked to the landing and there was no parent in sight.

I remember my first overnight boat when I was 15 and my brother was 14 — my dad checked with the captain beforehand and he said it was okay — I think the only question was there was some kind of curfew back then. Once I was 16 and had a drivers’ license, I just went anywhere and nobody ever asked a question other than “do you have a fishing license?”.

But that was close to 40 years ago, so times may have changed. The best bet would be to have a parent call up the landing and ask them. But I don’t think it’ll be a problem.

Your Questions About Sport Fishing Yachts

Mark Your Questions About Sport Fishing Yachts

Mark asks…

Is Rugby really the #1 game in NZ?

I’m not talking about people watching it on the telly. Obviously with the high quality of first-class Rugby played in NZ it gets the most spectator interest, and it’s reinforced by the international success of NZ teams. But in terms of people playing it I would be highly surprised if it was the most popular sport.

I played it (and enjoyed it). But most people I knew didn’t. Especially in the suburbs and city. Many people played ‘touch rugby’ which can’t really be regarded as something contributing to Rugby Union proper. Far more people seemed to play other sports like Netball, Golf, Tennis, Soccer or Lawn Hockey. It didn’t sound right to me when someone said Rugby’s all NZ plays, perhaps in the countryside but not where most of NZ lives.

And while we’re highly successful at Rugby we’re also very successful at Yachting (which I don’t actually like) and Rowing and Netball. They might not get the interest Rugby does but that probably has as much to do with the very nature of Rugby being a spectator friendly game. I mean Horse racing also still gets and you’d hardly call that the #1 sport in NZ.

And then there’s the informal sports like Tramping/Hiking, angling/fishing, surfing, snowboarding, game hunting…

I refuse to believe it’s all NZ plays. Someone can feel free to prove if it is the most played game in NZ. Is Rugby really the #1 sport in NZ?
Guys I’m not certain if you see what I’m getting at here.

I’m not disputing that it hogs the media and public interest and that it’s pretty much our national pastime.

I’m responding to this NH idea that we’re succeed over them because ‘it’s all we play’. It’s not the ONLY sport we play and I’m pretty certain it’s not the most played sport.
LOL Bill P: I completely forgot about Rugby League! I wonder if these ignorant NH bigmouths know NZ’s currently world champs in that sport? or that we’re also world champs in Softball?
Hey Yo!
I’m pretty sure Rugby’s not actually the most played sport by a long shot. Can someone provide some stats?

Daniel A Your Questions About Sport Fishing Yachts

Daniel Ambrose answers:

Rugby Union has the highest participation rates amongst team sports in New Zealand across the age spectrum. Soccer only has the highest participation rates at high school level because of high female participation rates as well. Rugby still rules the roost with males at high school. Check the stats on that one.

The sport with the highest participation rates in New Zealand is actually Golf, by a very, very long way. New Zealand has more golf courses per head of capita than any other country in the world so I guess it makes sense aye?

I think that on the whole rugby is is overexposed and participation rates are clearly dropping on a year to year basis. What these statistics show is that rugby is far from the only sport played in New Zealand. We’re a pretty diverse little lot down here.

Also to the person who said that soccer is the most played sport without backing it up. Don’t do that, it makes you look ignorant.

Ruth Your Questions About Sport Fishing Yachts

Ruth asks…

Can you believe this story of greed regarding Scott Boras?

Yes it is an old story but I just found out about this.

Borad is tuly an asshole. A young boy was drowing and he wanted “thirty-five million” in order for him to save the child. he actually took out a contract and whited out “third baseman” and added “drowning child”. Here is the article released by Brushback.com.

EAST HAMPTON, NY–Scott Boras has long been known as a tough negotiator. That reputation was bolstered yesterday when the super agent demanded $35 million to rescue a small child drowning in the ocean near Boras’s home in East Hampton, New York.

The child, an eight-year-old named Danny Corgin, was swimming at a private beach when he was caught in the undertow and dragged away. As he flailed and cried for help, Boras relaxed on the deck of his luxury yacht.

“My grandson was swimming around when all of a sudden he was caught in a riptide and dragged out to sea,” said Ethel Corgin, the boy’s grandmother. “I didn’t know what to do. I started panicking. Then I saw that man relaxing on his yacht reading a book. So I asked for his help, and he just said ‘You want me to save a drowning child? Hmmm…that kind of thing will run you around 35 million.’ I tried to negotiate with him, but he was unwavering. I’ve never seen anyone so stubborn, greedy, and heartless in my life. What is he, a sports agent?”

Corgin said that she was struck by Boras’s casual demeanor, even as her grandson struggled to stay afloat in the vicious riptide.

“He was panicking, the poor thing. He thought he was going to drown,” she said. “I thought for sure that [Boras] would help but he really wanted that money. He said I could give him 10 million up front and sign a written guarantee to deliver the rest within a week. He had the contracts already made up. He just whited out ‘third baseman’ and added ‘drowning child.’”

In the end, a deal was not struck. Fortunately, a fishing boat came by and plucked young Danny out of the water before he could drown. Corgin was relieved, but still outraged over Boras’s refusal to rescue her grandson.

For his part, Boras explained that he was just exercising good business sense.

“How much is an eight-year old boy’s life worth?” asked Boras. “Can you really ever say ‘No, that’s too expensive. I’d rather just let the boy drown?’ No, of course not. I was shocked when Mrs. Corgin refused my offer to save the boy. If you’re not willing to shell out a few bucks to save the life of a child, you’ve got to take a long look in the mirror.”

While young Danny was drowning, Boras described his mood as “horrified” and denied Corgin ’s allegations that he was casually reading his book.

“I think she’s in denial or something,” said Boras. “It’s crazy to say that I was just causally looking on. I kept thinking how much I would love to save the boy, but Mrs. Corgin and I just couldn’t see eye to eye on compensation. I even acquiesced a little and told her to just give me 10 million up front, since the boy was dying and all. But she still refused. Talk about stubborn. She ought to be arrested for child neglect.”

Several baseball owners and general managers have had similar experiences with Boras. After learning about the East Hampton incident, a few came forward in support of Mrs. Corgin.

Arizona Diamondbacks GM Joe Garagiola, who haggled with Boras this year over the team’s number one draft pick, called the agent “a piece of shit.”

“That guy is a horrible asshole,” he said. “If I were that woman, Mrs. Corgin, I’d sue him for everything he has. How can you sit in your yacht and casually read a book while a young child is flailing in the water before you? He’s even worse than the Poston brothers. Sure, they’ve had a few people killed, but not children.”

While Boras’s actions have been deemed despicable by some, major league baseball players are flocking to him in record numbers. His aggressive, tough-nosed tactics have made his clients some of the most highly paid in the game.

“He refused to save a drowning child because his grandmother wouldn’t pay him 35 million?” asked Red Sox pitcher Derek Lowe, who is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the year. “That’s sick. It’s cruel. It’s inhuman. He has absolutely no sense of decency or restraint. Anyone have his number?”

I honestly hate him. I hoe karma comes back and bites him in the ass.
BONUS QUESTION: Do you think there is something mentally wrong with Boras when he demanded ten million dollars for saving someone’s life?
to user 1: i agree with you. just sick

Ken Your Questions About Sport Fishing Game

Ken asks…

Whats the best playstation move game out right now?

Are there any shooting games? I heard the sports champions game is good but we just got a wii and I’m pretty burnt out on the sports aspect. I was thinking of getting that fishing game bass pro something like that. And as for the move controllers, I got the optional one too. Do I really need it? Whether I do or don’t, I plan on having both in the future but since its optional are there any games that require it?

Daniel A Your Questions About Sport Fishing Game

Daniel Ambrose answers:

Killzone 3 is a fantastic shooter game for the Playstation move. It really makes you feel like you are in the war and the accuracy is excellent it is a must buy. As for the navigation controller for Playstation move, it is not necessary for any game, but it makes it a lot easier to control the character in hardcore games such as heavy rain and Killzone 3. If you don’t have the navigation controller you have to hold the standard PS3 controller in one hand and can be awkward to control.

Sandra Your Questions About Sport Fishing Game

Sandra asks…

Sport or a Game?

I was taught that Hunting, shooting and fishing were sports, and the rest games

What is your definition of a sport or a game?

Daniel A Your Questions About Sport Fishing Game

Daniel Ambrose answers:

Some things can be a sport without being a game and some things can be a game and not be a sport (such as childrens games etc)
PS…… Baserunner316, if you play a baseball ‘game’ do you wear a uniform???

Donald Your Questions About Sport Fishing Game

Donald asks…

Is it healthy for fathers and sons to only care about games, sports and fishing and nothing else?

Because of this sports mentality, my husband and son are not able to talk about anything else, only games, sports and fishing. It is so boring to hear them go on about it. Therefore my husband and I cannot really have a normal conversation about anything else, if we do it’s usually me talking and him falling asleep while I’m trying to get him to talk to me because he is not interested in anything I have to talk about unless it’s sports, which it never is.

Is this normal, healthy and acceptable?

My husband and son only care about games, sports and fishing on weekends and holidays, the only three things that I can’t do because I have tried to play sports with them and tried to watch sports with them, but since there is only sports on the TV all day and all night and only sports on the computer games too, I am really bored and a little aggravated with it.

(Plus I only have one leg so I suck at sports), also I need more mental stimulation than that. Therefore they spend all their time together and I spend all my time alone.

Is this healthy for a child to be brought up this way by his father? And is this healthy for a marriage?

Shouldn’t a father teach his son that their is more to life than only games, sports and fishing? I am worried that my son will follow his father’s example and teach his own children one day that games, fishing and sports are all there is to life too.

What can I find to do with them if I can’t like sports, fishing and games, and if that’s all they like?

Strangely, when I met my husband he never watched sports or played it for the first ten years of our marriage, this is all a new thing. If my husband was like this when I met him and while we dated, I doubt I would have fallen in love with him, or dated him at all, because I always used to feel sorry for other girl’s whose men were sports crazy. Now my son is too and it is all my husband’s fault.

My mom says I should be glad to be a sports widow, rather than being cheated on with another woman, but shouldn’t I be worried for my son and grandchildren, why should I be happy with anything less than the best for us all? What can I do to fix this? I have asked them to find something that we all have in common so we can all do things together, but they only care about sports, nothing else.
PS: My husband is very loving towards me and affectionate and generous, I have a good marriage, except for the sports craziness.
I am very grateful for what my husband and son have together. I am just lonely. My girlfriends are unreliable when I make dates to see them they cancel at the last minute and cannot be spontaneous like me I always have to book to see them well in advance, or they can’t see me. I am a very spontaneous person, if I want to go to the movies I will phone a friend but my friends are not spontaneous and are unreliable that way.

Daniel A Your Questions About Sport Fishing Game

Daniel Ambrose answers:

I would say it is great for their relationship. Obviously, there is a great deal of bonding and connection between the two of them. Great! However, you are feeling left out of the loop and this will eventually become an issue in your marriage. Open and honest communication is necessary for the two of you. Sit down and talk with your husband explaining your feelings as well need for time and nurturing of your relationship with him. This is a solvable issue with a bit of Communication and compromise.
