Crank baits such as Rapala’s Shad Rap is a good start, My personal favorite is the Model A Bomber from Bomber Lures also a Bill Dance Favorite. I cant tell you how many Bass Ive caught on just that one lure alone. Don’t forget about those top water lures. Where do I start? Top water Popper lures are awesome for summertime Bass. Frogs work very well, so do buzz baits. The soft lures are not something I use too often, but when I do nothing beats a crawdad type soft bait. Bass really aren’t that picky, they are territorial, and hungry or not they will bite just because its in its territory, this is why so many type of lures will work. Lure color section really is KEY.to read about it check out this article, I hope you will find it helpful.

as far as your rod and reel, any will do, I could go out and buy a Scoobie Doo rod and reel combo and catch just as many Bass as the guy next to me using a $300. Set up, its all about how you present the Lure in the water, the fish don’t care what you have above the water.
When I was very young my father had my sister and I fishing with bamboo poles. Fish after fish is what I remember about it. Oh yea and my sister crying because she had to kill the worm.lol

Not trying to pry, but the question seems that you are a beginner fisherman. Nothing wrong with that, everone needs to learn to fish. Best sport in the world. If that is so then don’t try to get too complex with your lures and techniques too quickly. Start simple. Beetle spins are an easy lure to use. They are also a very inexpensive lure to use. 3″ broke back minnows are a great all around crank bait. If you like spinner baits, get you a smaller sized spinner, or buzz bait, with willow blades. Try not to do a whole lot of finese fishing with worms or other plastic baits. Start out with buzz baits or crank baits. I hope that helps a little good luck and good fishin

I dont have a boat or anything along those lines. So i am stuck to fishing off the shore. From what ive read they like to stay down in the mossy areas of lakes. what lures/ bait should i use. what would be the easiest and the best bet? Also lately ive been getting caught on all the crap in the lake like sea weed and stuff and my line always breaks. How DO I AVOID THIS!!!!!! having to re make my line is very annoying. also i have not been fishing very long so any extra detail you would like to add in or any extra tips you would like to add in that dont really have to do with my question i will be completely okay with that. THANK YOU SO MUCH

Daniel Ambrose answers:

Charlie and fisher king offer you excellent information.
A texas rigged plastic worm is one of the most weedless and effective lures ever made for bass.
Also the weedy and mossy areas are one of their preferred hangouts. A topwater weedless rigged frog is a premier bait for weedy situations. You will probably want 12 or 15lb line to pull fish from this stuff.
And as Dana mentioned, a good knot is an absolute necessity. That may be why your line constantly breaks. This site l will point you to is the best one l have found for easy to understand instructions.

plastic worms will work all year round. Check all the different ways of fishing and rigging them.
Fishing from the bank the following methods will work best. All of my own fishing is from the shoreline.
Texas rig
dropshot rig
wacky rig
shakey head rig
a carolina rig can be used bank fishing but is most effectively used from a boat.

What bass fishing technique works best for you in small pond (no boat)?

I’ve been fishing at this lake every other day for awhile. Matter fact alot of my friends fishs it two just as much. So far i’ve only seen/heard of maybe 5 keeper size bass being caught and a few small ones. Two big fish was snagged so that doesn’t count. Thing is there are many people and different techniques being tried and it’s rare a fish is caught. I dont see how the can turn down rapalas because is so easy to fish but I never get hits on them. I had a couple on worms and lizards but maybe I’m not presenting them right. I dont have a dept finder but walking on the docks and dropping my line down in many parts I’ve found that this pond is only 6″ deep (so it seems) I think is best to try fish close to the top with spinners and rapalas most of the time but it’s not working too good. The weather changes patterns alot too but I’m out in all of it. Trying differant techniques. These bass are smart or just not biting in anything. I can thow a bait on a bed, step back and still nothing.

Daniel Ambrose answers:

Finesse = small baits.

A drop shot rig with a 2 1/2- to 3 1/2-inch worm would be considered a finesse rig. And would be perfect for a weedy drop off. Possibly even a 4 inch straight tail worm fished on a Texas rig.

North shore of the lakes will warm up faster due to getting more sun shine and the prevailing southerly winds. Fish those banks, outside bends in the channel, drop offs near there, with craw fish imitators….either crank baits or jig w/ trailer.
Start when the water reaches 50 deg. Big females spawn first.
If you lake has a shore with black shale or black clay fish them hard….especially if there is a drop off of more than 5 ft. Like from 15 to 20 or more. This has worked for me for a long time now.
Tubes will work under the same conditions sense they imitate a craw. Tube colors I like are Road Kill / Chartreuse tips, Brown cold, green flake / orange tips, of course Black blue tips as well. I do not use worms until the water gets in the upper 50′s or after spawn.
Spinner Baits also work well this time of year as do crank baits worked slow….remember I am talking “early spring” pre-spawn, when the bass are starting to stage off their spawning grounds.

** Added ** Float N Fly is a real good technique when the water is below 50 degrees. Works great from around Dec. – late Feb, early March. I use it during this time for Small Mouth Bass in S. Central Ky, and Tn.

Bass———— large minnows, any top water baits, artificial worms
crappie——— minnows mainly but they are slow this time of year
Bluegill——— red worms, crickets, rooster tail lures, beetle spin lures, bread even where they are in abundance. After last full moon in May these species usually if they haven’t already started spawning they will be then.

Most of these anglers have built bass fishing services because of them; bass fishing is already a hard habit to break.

Not only that, some of them would even make Christmas cards inspired from bass fishing. They do this as an effective business product especially on the holiday seasons or any other special occasions.

For children, Christmas cards are colorful and are usually printed with jokes, stickers, or games. There are also special Christmas cards that hold money or gift cards. For adults, Christmas cards are often either traditional or humorous. And most of the adults get their Christmas cards on the Internet.

Like Bass Fishing Christmas Cards which can be redeemed for online purchases, catalog orders, and purchases.

Most Bass Fishing Gift Cards are mailed separately to the shipping address of your choice. Such as:

• Bass Fishing Christmas Cards delivered in 3-6 business days.

• Catalog(s) or the gift cards are shipped separately.

• Free standard shipping to US zip codes

• Gift Card amounts are in US funds

Not only that, here’s your second choice…

Most Bass Fishing Greeting Cards businesses provide a great way to send a gift almost instantly to your favorite outdoor enthusiast. Simply provide them with the dollar amount and they will email a Gift Card that can be used immediately.

These are important reminders on how you can get the card that you order:

• Most Bass Fishing Christmas Gift Cards are delivered within four hours if ordered during normal business hours. Otherwise they may take 4 to 24 hours to be delivered.

• These gift cards are usually delivered without any problems. However, a full inbox, invalid email address, or a spam filter can prevent the greeting card from reaching the recipient’s inbox. In order to be certain that a Gift Card has been received, please check with the recipient.

• Gift Cards are available for U.S. orders only and are in US funds.

• Catalogs will not be mailed, but current catalogs can be viewed online.

And here is your third choice, if you want your bass fishing Christmas card to be more memorable do it yourself. It’s the thought that counts, not the amount anyway!

An ordinary hand-made Christmas card is very special, how much more if it was motivated by bass fishing? Very peculiar is it not? And yet too easy!

Here’s what you will need:

a piece of card 17cm x 25cm

a piece of crepe paper or tissue paper slightly smaller than the card

several pieces of colored paper, recycled or interesting texture

metallic braid or cord, or colored ribbon inspire

ruler

glue

scissors

pinking shears

and of course do not forget your pictures with the bass fishes (have it scanned please)

And here’s the easy way to do it:

1. Carefully fold the piece of card in half.

2. Use a very small amount of glue to fix the tissue paper inside the card as a lining.

3. Trim a piece of colored paper with pinking shears, so that it measures 13cm x 8cm. Glue it to the front of the card, leaving an equal margin on each side.

4. Cut a simple shape – a Christmas tree, a star, bells etc. – from an interesting paper of a toning or contrasting color. Glue the shape to the front of the card.

5. When you are done with that, edit the picture that you have just scanned. You can use Paint Shop Pro for it.

There you have it, just use your creativity and you’ll have a Bass fishing Christmas card to give to a bass fishing enthusiast.

If you are interested in fishing tournaments, or knowing where people are catching bass then you have found some good reading.

There are some great fishermen out there that are dedicated to bass fishing tournaments. Many of them follow the bass fishing tournaments religiously because it is how many sport fishing professionals butter their bread.

These tournaments draw the best, of the best sport fishing professional, and it is to your benefit if you can just get close enough to listen to them talk about bass fishing, and the tournaments you can learn a wealth of information.

Recently while following some of the best sport fishing professionals through the tournament circuit, I discovered just how few people were actually aware of some of the best bass fishing tournaments in the World. Thinking what a shame to miss out on such events, I decided I would write an article directing peoples attention to some of the great tournaments out there in the hopes that they could enjoy the future events.

For instance:

Did you know that the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship is held the third week of July, with the champion of that competition receiving, what use to be $50.000, and the amount seems to go higher, and higher, every year? The winning weight is usally about 55-pounds, and the tournament is a three day event, taking place on Rainy Lake in North-West Ontario, Canada.

Another Canadian favorite is the “Shoal Lake Bass Classic Tournament,” which occurs in the 1st weekend in July, held -but where else- “Shoal Lake”, in Ontario, Canada. This is the top fishery in the region with schools of Small-mouths that have never seen a lure before. Small-mouths usually win this tournament, but there are some Large-mouths here that can be a factor. The winning weight for this two day tournament is usually in the 32-34 pound range.

Ever heard of the KBI? That stands for another great bass fishing tournament promoter: “Kenora Bass International”. Their grand prize for the overall winner is usually a little smaller than Fort France , but they are getting higher all the time, and $30,000 was not anything to sneeze at even then. The competition takes place on the “Lake of the Woods” the second week in August, and the winning weight is usually around 50-pounds.

As great as it would be to catch bass at these weights, I cannot help but recall a program on the television, I just saw that was appropriately named “Monster Fish” where they were actually catching 9-foot bass, weighing in the hundreds of pounds! I know that sounds outrageous, but it was absolutely true. What a challenge! To actually bring in such a fish. But I have gotten off subject.

English River Bass Challenge also occurred in Mid July, this tournament held on the English River System in Grassy Narrows, Ontario. It is the First Nation sponsored bass tournament on the great English River in Northwestern Ontario.

Ding Wang Ford Bass Tournaments is held every 2nd Sunday in August. This is only a one-day Bass Fishing Tournament that is open to anglers of all ages. The tournament is held in Dryden on the Wabigoon Chain of Lakes (excluding the Dinorwic Chain). The smallmouth bass fishing tournament held on Dashawa, Crowrock and Turtle Lakes near Atikokan, Ontario. This chain of pristine northern waters has an abundance of big scrappy smallies.

Anyone who likes fishing can enter the competition. The Atikokan Bass Classic is known as the “funnest bass tourney in the Northwest”.

There are many bass fishing tournaments for the sports fishing professionals all around the world and the ones mentioned here are but a small number of them. After all, these sport fishing professionals plan their itineraries around these bass fishing, and other species of fish, tournaments to enjoy their sport, as well as pay some of their rents. So they stay close to the circuit and the prize money they can win with them.

Those planning their vacations may wish to read this article about the terrific fishing adventures here in Florida. This article will have you rethinking your itinerary with great plans for the whole family.

Did you not know that Southwest Florida was already known world wide for their exceptionally good saltwater fishing for the whole family? But they also have some of the greatest family adventures with their fresh water bass fishing opportunities.

This has lead to Florida transforming many of its lakes into some of the worlds best bass fishing destinations for the avid bass fisherman, and whole families together. These fisherman, and their families, plan their vacations around some of these lakes, and their events.

These lakes have provided everything for your comfort, you can camp out in tents, campers, or even rent entire lodges for your family to enjoy while positioning yourself close to all the great fishing action. As therapeutic as it is to be lakeside bass fishing, there is little more exhilarating then to get a large bass hooked on your line and the fight to bring it a shore.

This is enjoyment the whole family will remember for years to come as you tell it back and forth, and later your children tell it to their children as they take them on the adventures to the same locations to build on those memories.

How lucky the residents of Florida, to have so much wonderful bass fishing so easily within their grasps. The locals are brought together often by regular bass fishing competitions organized by three very active fresh water clubs in Collier County Florida. Some of the competitions are organized to bring in outsiders to compete, or just observe the festivities.

Of course Florida, and the fishing promoters do not just target the wonderful bass fishing available in Florida, as they often target other fish species as well.

But with all their world renowned salt water fishing, people sometimes forget all the great fresh water lakes, ponds, canals, and creeks, just full of great fishing ventures for you, and the whole family.

If you really want to set your whole family up for the greatest bass fishing adventures you will all cherish for years, and years, I would strongly suggest setting up an itinerary involving some professional fishermen that will arrange guided tours to the absolutely hottest bass fishing spots, and share their many years of wisdom with you, so you catch the biggest bass, the quickest, and learn some great tips of a lifetime in the process.

Have you got an ungodly amount of bass fishing lures? I mean really, just how many bass fishing lures does it take? Recently, a friend and I were doing a little bass fishing and this is how these things get started.

It was a peaceful sunny day at the back of my friends twenty acres where we were just getting started bass fishing in his private lake, when my friend pulled out this huge tackle box from his pickup and started fingering through all these different bass fishing lures.

Now I looked at my friend and then the massive quantity of bass fishing lures he had displayed and I could not help but ask him, “are you going to open a bass fishing lure shop?” He looked at me, just a little dumbfounded, in my opinion, and said “you never know what them varmints are going to take a notion to strike at.”

Now who in the world talks like that? I laughed until I nearly cried, and then I asked my friend “if you had used all of the bass fishing lures you had in your tackle box, why did you not just get rid of the lures that did not catch any bass?

He responded; “maybe they were not hungry that day.”

Now I kid you not, there is something to be said about the honesty in which he truly believed himself to be responding to my questions, and folks, we are not in Tennessee, not that I have anything against Tennesseans, but who in the state of Indiana, born and raised, talks like that?

But lets find the moral of our little story; “how many bass fishing lures does it take?” Well, I do not claim to know how many bass fishing lures it takes, but I will say that if your spending thirty minutes sifting through them to find the perfect bass fishing lure, the bass may eat their fill before you ever get your line into the water. Hence, another day they may not of been hungry. I know this may seem silly, but I could not resist sharing it with you.

And, for my friend, who will remain anonymous, I meant you no disrespect, just remember that I write about the things I love, so you know I love you. <img src='http://sportfishinghobby.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt="icon smile How many bass fishing lures does it take?

For many years businesses have rode on the vast interest Bass fishing has generated. Many people are hooked, pardon the pun, on this hobby and have elevated it to a sport and a passion. Resorts, sports gear stores and many other lines have been built and continue to benefit from the fishing worlds interest in bass fishing.

Everyday there are more and more people trying to learn what the buzz is all about. Bass fishing is more than just catching a fish. Its now about getting those prized big bass and having the opportunity to show it off. For beginners there are lots more to bass fishing than meets the eye.

First, try to know the lures that you must have to enjoy bass fishing and know what the top 3 lures for catching Bass are?

Although there was no particular gauge that was presented by the researchers, a survey was performed among the pro bass fishermen and it was found that plastic worms was the first choice, with the second and third place being the spinner bait and then the crank bait, respectively.

However, picking one of these 3 is not all there is to it. Some other factors still need to be considered. Primarily, you must consider if it is better to cover a smaller segment of water thoroughly or skim across a larger area as quickly as possible to find your fish limit.

Using a plastic worm is slower, but absolutely effective and is very alluring to Bass. They do best when the bass are in a group, or school.

The problem that usually arises with fishing with a plastic worm is the inability to sense strikes. This inability to sense them can be due to a sinker that is too heavy and a line that is too thick.

To help you to overcome this problem you are advised to use a variable buoyancy worm using lead strip sinkers.

Here are some of its advantages:

• No moving lead on the line to dampen the feel of a gentle pickup
• You can apply the precise amount of lead to deliver the worm action needed
• It makes it easier for a bass to inhale the worm
• It aids in hook setting
• It is easier to shake loose from snags
• You can cause the worm to hang virtually suspended over the bottom when fishing shallow water.

To tell how much lead strip is needed, wrap one strip around the hook and bury the barb in the worm. Ease it into the water and watch it sink, it should slowly settle toward the bottom. If it sinks to fast, take some weight off, etc. Make sure to use no heavier than 8-pound mono line – preferably 6 pound.

On the other hand, a Spinner bait can be moved quicker across the surface and can be bounced on the bottom, sent against a tree limb and moved in several different ways in order to stimulate strikes. It is a great probing lure for the shoreline because of its tangle-free construction.

The final pick of Crank baits cover a lot of water in a hurry. Using them, you can check out a spot without wasting alot of time. You can use them to quickly find fish that may be scattered.

The most important thing is, no matter what lure you select for the particular body of water that you are fishing, you need to make it as easy for the Bass to get at it, as possible. Scientists have proven that Bass calculate the amount of energy it will take them to go after the prey. It is best to drop that lure right in front of them whenever possible.

Discover, and learn proper use of those lures that you prefer to use, and you to will really find enjoyment in bass fishing!

Aside from considering the lures, it is also important to determine the accurate time in going bass fishing.

<IMG SRC="http://www.bassfishingweapon.com/images/bassfishingweapon_480_60_move.gif" ALT="Bass Fishing "Secret Weapon" Revealed..." WIDTH="480" HEIGHT="60" border=0>

Dawn and dusk are definitely when the biggest bass can be brought in. First, remember that bass love ambush spots offering lots of cover from the bait-fish. They like to hide, and pounce on their prey.

The bait fish are most active in the early morning, or evening, when they feed. Bass follow their schedule because the baitfish are less aware of threats when they feed. So it is best for your success that you to follow their schedule.

When retrieving an underwater lure in poor light, keep it coming at a steady pace once it is set in motion so it will make it easier for bass to locate and grab it. Remember they are lazy.

The last thing is, don’t bother going out in the dawn/dusk when water is below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature wipes out certain aquatics and terrestrials, which nullifies the food chain feeding.

Knowing lures and proper bass fishing times will increase your bass catches exponentially. But you must also consider factors such as water quality and weather conditions. When you have all of these things considered you will always be a better player in the bass fishing game.
